If you’re a huge Potterhead (like me) you’ve been patiently waiting for Hogwarts Legacy and the wait is ALMOST OVER! It was officially announced at Playstation's Hogwarts Legacy State of Play presentation that the game will be released during the holiday season this year! Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world, action role-playing-game set in the 1800s wizarding world. Warner Bros. Games is publishing Hogwarts Legacy under the Portkey Games label. The game is being developed by Avalanche Software.

The State of Play presentation was 20 minutes long and showed off tons of gameplay from the RPG like the areas you can explore (locations we are familiar with and also entirely new areas), characters the player can interact with from classmates to professors and even ghosts (yay for Nearly Headless Nick), the classes we will attend, the magical beings and beasts we will come in contact with and even some of the backstory!

We enter the game being a brand new fifth year student to Hogwarts that can control a mysterious ancient magic. By honing our magic we travel through the world playing through what seems like multiple different storylines. This game seems very “choose-your -own -adventure” and I’m HERE for it!

Hogwarts Legacy will be available for virtually every gaming system! PlayStation5, PlayStation4, PlayStation4 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC!

Here are 5 things I would like to see from the game that wasn't shown in the State of Play.

Romantic Relationships

The State of Play highlighted three classmates we can befriend which got me wondering if we could possibly date in the game? Though this might not add much to the game story-wise it would still be a fun feature to include to really immerse us in the school experience.

Also if this is a feature, would same sex relationships be a thing? I hope so because our Gryffindor friend Natsai Onai already has my heart.

This also makes me wonder how much choice we will have in general when it comes to the dialogue our characters will say.

Young Albus Dumbledore

Albus Dumbledore was a Hogwarts student in the late 1800’s, which just happens to be when this story takes place… so surely we will be seeing a young Albus… right?!

Maybe Albus can give us a side quest or be another classmate we can befriend. It would be an amazing little easter egg if he was included in some way.

Pronoun Choice

It's 2022 so it just makes sense that we should be able to choose our pronouns in this game. We know we can customize our character so hopefully we will get a wide variety of pronouns included so everyone who plays can feel comfortable and seen in this hopefully inclusive game!

Amazing Music

When I think of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World I think amazing landscapes, magical characters and creatures, and of course goosebump inducing instrumental music. In my day to day life I have my favorite game soundtracks on repeat in the background of my life and I’m hoping Hogwarts Legacy will have a soundtrack that I can add to my favorite game soundtracks of all time.

The music from the movies is already setting this bar very high!

Let Me Take Magical Photos!

I don’t know about you but I love taking photos in my favorite games. Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have great ways to take photos! Of course we won’t have a phone to take photos with like we do in ACNH but I would love a system like BOTW, a way to catalog all the amazing things you see during your journeys. I would love to be able to take fun photos with my new friends, the amazing landscapes we get to explore, the magical creatures we bump into, and maybe even a magical plant we grew ourselves or a potion we finally perfected in class!

Whether or not these features are implemented into Hogwarts Legacy I know either way this game will offer an unforgettable experience and I cannot wait to live out my very own Hogwarts adventure at the end of the year!
